Day 15. Back in the Saddle
After the long holiday break, things started back pretty much where they left off. The new theme is "I need more to do". This is coming from several people on my team. I understand that high achieving teams need to be kept moving and challenged rather than leaving them to their own devices. This is going to be an interesting tightrope, don't burn them out while still keeping them motivated and solving problems. I know that we can supplement external requests with internal projects, but to keep a longer tail of requests is key. They need to know what to do with their spare time, how to get better and in which ways. If I do not explain where I expect them to be in 3-6-9 months, how will they know what to study and what to work on. That will be my new focus, 3-6-9 plans for each of my people. More soon on how I plan on doing this and keeping track of things.
